ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a BCBA Consultant to join RESET Learning to help design, implement, and oversee behavioral intervention programs. This is a flexible consultant opportunity that allows for remote or on-site work in Vancouver, BC. The BCBA will collaborate with our multidisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists (OTs), Speech Pathologists (SPs), and other professionals, to provide individualized behavior plans and guide our Behavior Interventionists (BIs).
Key Responsibilities include:

Program Design: Develop and implement tailored behavior intervention plans for individuals based on assessments and data-driven strategies.

Collaboration: Work closely with OTs, SPs, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive, holistic support.

Program Oversight: Provide guidance to BIs, review their progress reports, and adjust intervention plans as necessary.

Training: Mentor and train BIs to ensure accurate implementation of behavior intervention strategies.

Progress Analysis: Review and analyze data and reports submitted by BIs, modifying programs as needed based on evidence.

School Collaboration: Collaborate with school counselors or psychologists to align intervention strategies with what individuals experience in their school environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification (required).

Minimum of 5 years of experience in behavior analysis, preferably in educational or clinical settings.

Expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions.

Experience working with OTs, SPs, and allied professionals in a multidisciplinary setting.

Ability to train and mentor Behavior Interventionists (BIs).

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with families, educators, and therapists.

The CVCDA is a dynamic, multi-service not-for-profit agency dedicated to supporting children and families with a wide-range of programs for children, youth and young adults with developmental delays and disabilities. The hourly wage rate range for this position is: $42.27-$52.81 (commensurate with education and experience). Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled, empathetic Behaviour Consultant/Autism Program Lead to work 35 hours/week and provide exceptional care for the children and families who receive family-centred services in The Autism Program at the CVCDA. As a member of a team, you will design, supervise, and oversee the implementation of intensive, comprehensive, and effective behavioral treatment programs for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Treatment programs are individualized and are based on published research and methodologies. This position will also provide guidance to families in the implementation of home based strategies. We seek an organized and efficient team member with demonstrated leadership qualities who is excited to grow with this organization. Working in the Comox Valley catchment area, you will be a strong member of a well-developed Autism Program team and contribute to the established goals of the program and the larger agency. Adaptability and curiosity are valued traits in CVCDA team members as we work together to meet the needs of children and families in our community. Together our goals are to help children thrive within their family and community. This is a Program Lead position which provides a coordinating administrative function for the Autism Program and acts as a liaison between Agency administration, other Agency programs and the Autism Program Team. Some highlights of this position are an: • opportunity for supervision and mentorship from Dr. Sara White to learn about developing and implementing IISCAs and PFA/SBT programming • opportunity for learning program management, including adhering to program budgets, managing program expenses, working with families to budget Autism Funding, and contracting for services with MCFD/CYSN while supported by a well-established non-profit agency • opportunity for developing skills in supervision and team leadership overseeing a highly skilled team of interventionists/RBTs • opportunity for supporting a wide range of autistic clients and their families, from age 2 to teen, across a range of skill needs and family goals Qualifications: Board certification, or pursuing certification towards a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). Completion of a degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counselling, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work or other health related discipline from an approved post-secondary institution. Minimum of five years’ previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and two years’ experience as a BCaBA or Senior/Lead Interventionist under the supervision of an approved Behaviour Consultant working in a family-centred service delivery model and working within a team context. Eight -hour Supervision course completion preferred. Activities of the TAP BC/ Program Lead are not exclusive of; but include: A. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Apply the principles and methodologies of behaviour analysis to teaching programs for children with autism 2. Understand and adapt to the unique needs of autistic learners and their families 3. Enjoys working with families and children and understands family-centred services 4. Knowledge of best practices for creating inclusive and safe environments with an understanding of cultural safety 5. Foster inclusivity for LGBTQ+ individuals, respecting all gender identities and expressions 6. Can work with children with challenging behaviours 7. Can work independently and as a member of a team 8. Has strong organization and time management skills 9. Is flexible, adaptable and open to learning 10. Has the physical ability to work with young children and carry out duties as required B. SUPERVISORY 1. Provide supervision as per BACB supervision standards, if eligible (i.e., holding BCaBA or BCBA certification and having completed the 8 Hour Supervision course) 2. Supervise designated staff by performing duties including scheduling and coordinating work assignments 3. Organize relevant in-service training for staff 4. Represent the program within the agency and participate on agency committees 5. Maintain health and safety regulations and advise on building maintenance in order to meet inspection requirements C. CLINICAL 1. Responsible for intake for the child when they begin TAP services including completion of a service agreement, communication about services, and initial scheduling with a Lead Interventionist 2. Conducts Functional Assessment Interviews and Functional Assessment Observations for each child and uses other assessment tools as needed 3. Develops, implements, and oversees implementation of individualized skill acquisition teaching programs for autistic learners 4. Develops and implements Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plans and Safety Plans in collaboration with families and other professionals involved 5. Facilitate connections between Lead Interventionists and other professionals as appropriate 6. Prepare program resource materials that assist in the promotion, operation and evaluation of assigned program goals 7. Develop and present new initiatives (program enrichment and new programs such as the Autism Summer Camp and ASD Assessment Clinics) D. ADMINISTRATION 1. Participate in the Interviewing process of applicants for Autism Intervention positions along with the Executive Director and/or HR Administrator 2. Evaluate employee performance and determine related training and orientation 3. Ensure that all Client Services Agreements are accurate, up-to-date and signed 4. Ensure that appropriate documentation is submitted to the Autism Funds Processing Unit (MCFD) 5. Consult with the Executive Director and Accounting Department to manage the TAP Budget and billing including monitoring accounts receivable 6. Purchase authorized supplies, special equipment and educational materials 7. Monitor staff expenses and approve staff expense reimbursement forms 8. Prepare statistical information to conform to agency standards; prepare and maintain program materials and client files for CARF accreditation E. AGENCY REQUIREMENTS 1. Availability to work outside of standard office hours 2. Vehicle that meets ICBC annual inspection standards, and valid Driver’s Li-cense/current Drivers Abstract 3. A clear criminal record check 4. Holds a current Child Safe First Aid Certificate (or be willing to update) 5. Proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID19 and will be required to obtain boosters as necessary as set out by agency policy 6. - Identify and assess client/child’s needs through family interviews & review of documents
- Develop an Individualized Service Plan summarizing client’s context, your “case conceptualization”, goals, and specific recommendations to reach those goals
- Assist the family with determining the behavioural priorities
- Create a behavioural definition of the priority behaviour(s)
- Directly observe and gather data on those behaviour(s)
- Check for reliability and social validity of data gathered
- Develop and write behavioral intervention programs using behavioural principles and procedures.
- Train team members on data gathering and implementation of the intervention programs using hands-on, role-play, etc.
- Monitor the ongoing program implementation and recommend program adaptations accordingly
- Maintain regular contact with the family and team members
- Abide by the agencies policies and procedures and follow the code of ethics of Community Living BC
- Keep abreast of current literature and research in the field
- Attend staff meetings and other training opportunities
- Strong knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and relevant disorders
- Experience working with people who have behavioural challenges
- A strong commitment to the philosophy of people with challenges who are living and working in the community
- RASP (Registry of Autism Service Providers) designation (Level “A/B”) or qualifications to gain this designation
