General requirements (all positions):
Current BC-ABA membership; strong organizational, time-management, and written/oral communication skills; and ability to attend monthly online Board meetings.

Positions Available
MAL Communications (one position)
There are two people in this role, elected in alternating years. They communicate regularly with members via the BC-ABA website, email, and social media; design and distribute a monthly newsletter; and work with the webmaster to keep the website up-to-date and add resources for members. The ability to use or learn to use social media and other online platforms is required.
MAL Conference (one position)
There are two people in this role, elected in alternating years. Together with a conference committee that meets monthly, they plan the annual BC-ABA conference including booking a venue, arranging for speakers, adjudicating paper submission, developing the conference program, managing registration, and setting up a system for CEUs. They also arrange one or more events throughout the year and work with community partners to co-sponsor events eligible for CEUs.
MAL Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) (one position)
There are two people in this role, elected in alternating years. Together with a DEI committee that meets monthly, they promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within BC-ABA and the larger field. They coordinate community outreach, seek input from membership, advocate for equitable decision-making within BC-ABA, and organize DEI-specific training opportunities for members.
MAL Elections (one position)
This is a single-person role, elected every 2 years. Duties include advertising open positions, coordinating the nomination process, creating and distributing online ballots to Full and Student members, overseeing the election results, and announcing successful candidates. The Elections MAL works closely with the Communications MALs during election season.
MAL Membership (one position)
This is a single-person role, elected every 2 years. Duties include developing a plan to inform current and potential members of the benefits of BC-ABA membership, developing membership incentives, maintaining a list of current members, and coordinating a process for membership renewal.
President (one position)
The President is elected for a 2-year term that is preceded by an additional 2-year term as President-Elect, for a total of 4 years. Duties of the President-Elect include assuming the responsibility of President if they are absent; accepting specific responsibilities delegated by the President; promoting leadership activities for the Board; coordinating the Student Research Grant, and supporting the Administrative Assistant. Duties of the President include providing leadership to the Association by presiding over Board meetings; communicating with ABAI on behalf of BC-ABA; publicly representing BC-ABA to meet the needs of the organization as they arise; consulting with committees as needed; meeting with external professional and advocacy groups and governmental organizations; and providing general supervision over the affairs of BC-ABA.
Treasurer (one position)
This is a single-person role, elected every 2 years with a term that extends over 3 years. In the third year, the Treasurer mentors the incoming person in this position. Duties in the first 2 years include maintaining the financial account of the Association; approving all expenditures; and supervising and coordinate all billing, invoicing, reimbursements, and handling of the financial aspects of BC-ABA business. With the aid of an accountant, the Treasurer also prepares an annual financial statement and projected budget. The ability to use or learn to use basic accounting software is required.
